Important Information Before You Book
- Names required, book 3 days ahead. Colosseum tickets are nominative: you must enter each participant’s full name at booking, and it must match their ID. Because of this, bookings must be made at least 3 days in advance.
- Bring your passport or ID. Required for entry, and it must match the name on your ticket.
- Colosseum entry time is fixed. Your Colosseum slot is scheduled and can’t be rescheduled. Arrive on time. The Forum and Palatine, however, are flexible within a 24-hour window before or after.
- A tip from reviewers: split it over two days. Since the Forum and Palatine ticket is valid for 24 hours, many visitors do the Colosseum at their scheduled time and the Forum and Palatine on a different day or a cooler part of the day.
- Late afternoon is quietest. Reviewers repeatedly recommend a late entry (around 4:30 to 5:30 PM) for smaller crowds and almost no security wait.
- Security screening. All visitors pass airport-style security. In high season the wait can reach 30 minutes.
